September JOY!

"Come Follow Me"

Last Wednesday, with the help of our elementary music teacher, Mrs.Draper, we launched our first elementary chapel of the new school year! Whoop! Whoop! And the Holy Spirit was definitely in the house and on the move! From the start of the first worship song with the sweet voices of the Jr. Cougars singing His praises behind me as I ran the lyric slides, I knew God had something special planned for chapel that morning and the whole year too. So much JOY as we explained our theme for the year and our plan for faculty and staff to share their testimonies throughout the year.

From there we focused on Mark 10:13-16 about Jesus wanting the children to come to Him, the importance of child-like faith, and Mrs. Draper shared her salvation experience when she was just four years old. At the end of the chapel, we invited students to pray the salvation prayer and there were eager hearts and voices throughout the gym that we get the gift and blessing of walking with and encouraging them in their own Jesus journeys all year!

Why am I sharing all this with you now? Well, that's easy! I am sharing this with you because it brings my heart overflowing JOY and because I/we would love to invite you to be a unique part of this special and intentional worship experience in the lives of our precious Jr. Cougars by joining us. Chapel dates, are all on Wednesdays this year.

9/27, 10/4, 10/18, 11/15, 11/29, 12/13,

1/3, 1/17, 1/31, 2/14, 2/28, 3/13, 4/3, 5/1, 5/29

Chapels are from about 8:15 -9:00 am in the gym. We usually open with prayer and sing praises to the Lord. After that, throughout this year, one of our faculty/staff will share about the time in their life they gave Jesus their heart. Then we have a 10-15 minute lesson. If your schedule does not afford you the opportunity to be present with us, we would be blessed and grateful for your prayers for our Jr. Cougars and all the Lord is going to do this year in our elementary chapels!

"And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them." Mark 10:13-16

We are just a few weeks away from the mouth-watering, nose-tickling, tummy-rumbling, finger-licking, yummy and delicious, fresh and hot chicken at our annual CCS Chicken BBQ coming up on Friday, October 20th! What a tasty treat and easy Friday night feast for you and your loved ones to enJOY together while supporting our beloved CCS! Tickets are on sale now until October 11th!

Getting to Know You Day!

This FriYAY, September 8th our Jr. Cougars will experience the JOY of some fun, games, and fellowship while getting to know each other a bit better. We will also have a picnic-style lunch outside on the playground that day with a frozen treat for dessert. Whoop! Whoop! Since we are picnicking outside on this day when packing lunch, please no heat-ups.

Science Rocks!!!

Our first session of “Science Explorers” is coming up quickly! Our CCS “Glad Scientist,” Mrs. Sunshine Smiley :) is eager for her new clubbers of Jr. Cougar scientists to join her on 9/27, 10/4, and 10/11, which are all Wednesdays, after school, from 2:45 - 3:45 pm. Together they will be having ooey, gooey "SlimeTime" fun!

New to Our Beloved Elementary Dream Team!

We are so excited and blessed to welcome to our beloved Elementary Dream Team a few new shining stars! We can't wait to see how the Lord is going to radiate in and through them and all they do to love, support, encourage, and teach our precious Jr. Cougars! We've already seen them in action and know they are twinkling bright additions to our team.

Miss Hoover - ES PE and Computers and MS PE too!

HI! My name is Bryanna Hoover. I graduated from Lancaster Bible College with a degree in Health and Physical Education. God has given me the opportunity to teach Elementary PE, Computer Technology, and coach Middle School Boys Soccer at CCS. Physical education, sports, and kids has always been a passion of mine and I am so excited to get to explore those passions at CCS. A few things I enjoy doing are playing soccer, going to the beach, and watching sunsets. I am so blessed that God has brought me to CCS and I cannot wait to see what He has in store this school year!

Mrs. Nefos - Grade 3B

As my husband Frank and I were looking for a place of peace for our children to learn and grow, He began to stir in my heart a deep desire to teach and to be a light at CCS. I am so grateful for the opportunity to teach third grade! I have always had a love for teaching and a heart for children. I taught for six years, went to Seminary, was on staff at our church for eleven years, and love all things nature, coffee, reading, swimming, and walks. I'm looking forward to serving and loving our CCS community!

Mrs. Justine Taylor - Grade 4

I grew up near Buffalo, NY in a home across from Lake Erie. I’ve been married for almost 38 years and have 4 grown children. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior 35 years ago at my best friend’s house. I’ve been attending Hopewell Church for 17 years. I love singing and spending time with my family. I also love nature and traveling to new places. This summer I visited Europe with my family. We went to Paris, then visited my youngest son who recently moved to England. In August I went back to Africa to see the friends I met last July, when I visited 3 orphanages in Kenya.
