Christmas tree

‘Tis almost time for a Christmas Concert

'Tis the season for celebrating the birth of our Savior and the gift of life we have because of His great love for us!  The concert that features your precious little ones sharing Jesus JOY is almost here! Here are some important details about the rehearsal and concert that is now less than 1 week away!

When: Thursday, December 17, 2015 (The concert begins at 7:00 pm.)

Where: Conestoga Mennonite Church (The church across the street from CCS)

Time students are to arrive at church: No later than 6:40 pm. (This is different from the start time of the concert!) Please be sure that your child uses the restroom before reporting to his/her teacher at church.

Dress code for the concert: Students should wear their "Sunday Best." :)
PLEASE, NO jeans, t-shirts, casual clothing, or sneakers.

School day rehearsal: We will be having a rehearsal at Conestoga Mennonite Church during the school day on Wednesday, December 16. Students will be walking to the church escorted by their teachers, office staff, and me at around 10:00 am, and we will return to school by lunchtime.

This can be a busy time of year with decking the halls, shopping, wrapping, baking, and any other of the many ways we celebrate this season, but I pray that you are able to take time with your family and yourself to be still with Jesus and allow Him to fill your mind, heart, and spirit with HIS love, warmth, and light...truly our best Christmas present ever!

‘Tis Time for a FREE Trial Week in PreK or Kindergarten

little kid at desk

You might be wondering how do FREE trial and PreK and Kindergarten go together? Here’s how we think they go together. Your child has been learning and growing so much already this school year, and the new calendar year is often a time when we decide to try new things. We thought this might be an awesome opportunity for you to allow your child to “try on” a new, slightly bigger schedule for one week to accommodate his/her steadily growing body, brain, heart, and spirit in the current PreK or kindergarten class for FREE! In order to help you consider the possibility of upgrading your child’s current enrollment plan, CCS is offering a free trial week during the week of January 19, 2016. So whether it’s “testing out” the PreK enrichment program or upgrading your child’s kindergarten schedule from half day to flex day or flex day to full day, you and your child can give it a try for one week for FREE with no strings attached!. If it’s a “good fit” for your little one, you can continue your child’s new schedule beginning the first week of February for the rest of the school year. At that time, Mr. Detwiler, our Business Manager, will then adjust your current tuition for the remainder of the school year to reflect the new “good fit” size for your growing little one! Please feel free to contact me by either emailing or calling me if you have any questions or want to arrange for your child to “try on “ the FREE trial week.

‘Tis the Season for a Christmas Chapel

holiday star
‘Tis the “most wonderful time of the year” for another ALL-SCHOOL chapel! This time we will be celebrating the birth of Jesus our Savior! You are invited to attend this special time of praise, worship, reflection, and of course FUN happening next Friday,December 18, at 8:20 am in the gym!

‘Tis the Season for sharing God’s Light, Love, Hope!

And that is just what our very own Jr. Cougar second and third graders and their teachers did this past Thursday when they bravely walked across Rt. 23 to dine, entertain, and connect through conversation and Bible quizzing with a special group of seniors at Conestoga Mennonite Church!  What a wonderful time was had by all at this extra sweet Christmas Celebration! It is hard to determine which group had the most and the biggest smiles; the seniors, our kiddos, or our treasured teachers, but I think the winner of the biggest smile is probably God! How pleased our Father must have been by the love being shared during the precious time they had together celebrating our best Christmas present ever!

"I bring you good news of great JOY that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10

What “Time” Is It?...Chapel “Time!!!”

Bet you thought I was going to say Daylight savings time.:) It is true that we turned our clocks back one hour this past weekend, and pajama time feels like it comes much more quickly during this season of the year, but I was referring to my favorite time with our Jr. Cougars, and that is happening in two days! This Friday, 11/6, at 8:30 am in the Multipurpose Room in the high school, we will be having our elementary chapel. This week chapel will led by our middle school worship team and Mrs. Harkins and her second grade “Peanut Gang.” We welcome you to join us in this special time of learning about and loving God!

10/12/15

Image result for god's love

What a fabulous Friday we had to end last week, and the start of this week looks to be equally awesome! You may be asking yourself why? For starters, chapel was on Friday! Our time of worshipping and praising God in song was led by Mr. Brenner and his guitar.  Then we journeyed together through verses in the Bible about “love.” We looked at love through the teachings of Jesus and the greatest commandments in Matthew 22:36-40: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”  Together we discovered that “love” is not just a feeling word, but also a “verb” or an “action word.” As we have learned in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life,”  Jesus set the ultimate example of “love in action” by dying on the cross in our place. His death was love in action. After witnessing their peer volunteers model “love in action” through an object lesson, our Jr. Cougars were challenged by the words in Hebrews 10:24-25: “Let us consider how to stir one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as in the habit of some, but encouraging one another…,” and to live “love in action” on and off our CCC campus.
As we begin this week our senses are in tune to the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes leading up to our CCS 42nd Annual Chicken BBQ and Auction. Here are a few important highlights to assist you in planning your week ahead.

Chicken Barbeque

As you know this Friday, 10/16/15 is our annual Chicken Barbeque. Be prepared to have your taste buds tickled and your bellies filled to the max!

Here are a few important details that you need to know about dismissal on this day:

-Our Pre K students enrolled in “Little Conestoga Preschool” will be dismissed at 11 am.

-All other elementary students will be dismissed at 11:30 am.

-There is NO BUSING for students who usually take the school bus home if you are in the ELANCO of PEQUEA VALLEY school Districts. Students who reside in those districts must have someone plan to pick them up in the car line at 11:30 am.

Class Baskets

A definite highlight of our school Auction are the class baskets and this year is no exception! First, let me personally say a great big THANK  YOU to the parents who took the lead for each grade, Pre-K through fifth, in communicating, organizing, collecting, and assembling this year's baskets! Another big THANK YOU  to everyone for your generous contributions to the baskets as well!  The baskets and YOU are awesome! The final steps in the basket process are the big moments of bidding on and selling them at the Auction, this Saturday, 10/17/15, beginning at 10:45 am. Please help your child to join with their teacher and class at about 10:40 am to present their basket and encourage bidders to raise their hands in support of our beloved CCS and all of our little and big kiddos!

After the basket fun you can head over for even more fun at the children’s area. This year, for the first time ever, WJTL and the “Kids Cookie Break” will be featured from 10a.m. – 2p.m. Children can also enjoy entertainment in the kid’s area with activities, games and prizes, a bounce house, a train ride and more all starting  at 10 am. With the purchase of a $6 wristband children are able to play all day in a fun, safe, supervised environment! (A maximum charge of $20 per family.) Popcorn is also available for $1.

Can’t wait to see you there!

Jr. Cougars Running Club
“…let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”  Hebrews  12:1

It is hard to believe that the Jr. Cougars Running Club is wrapping up the season over the next two weeks. To celebrate and share our successes, we are hosting a Jr. Cougars Fun Run “under the lights”,  next Wednesday, 10/21/15 at 6:30 pm. ALL of our Jr. Cougars and their families are invited to walk, run, cheer, and have fun with us! Refreshments will also be available for purchase too.
